Ellison Signs with Westminster

NWAC Southern Region MVP Grant Ellison, has signed a letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic career at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The RiverHawk freshman guard was the leading scorer for the Umpqua men’s basketball team this season, leading them to the Southern Region Championship and a trip to the NWAC Final Four. They finished the season with a 20-10 record.

The Griffins of Westminster finished 16-8 overall and 16-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Ellison will join the Griffins upon the completion of his LDS mission in the fall of 2019.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including three men's teams (basketball, cross country, and wrestling), and four women's teams (basketball, cross country, and volleyball). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling they belong to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
