RiverHawks Battle at Warrior Dash

The Umpqua Community College Obstacle Course Racing Team made their individual race debut at the 2017 Warrior Dash in North Plains, Oregon. The Warrior Dash features hundreds of runners that compete over a 3.3 mile course with 12 world-class obstacles. Warrior Dashes are held all across the United States, with the Top 10 male and female finishers from the competitive wave qualifying for the Age Group Competition of the OCR World Championships.

For the RiverHawks, William Turner (So., Roseburg, Oregon) and Boone Pearson (So., Roseburg, Oregon) had strong debuts with Turner finishing 5th and Pearson 6th, in the Competitive Wave. Jakob Bergmann, Patrick Gerstner, Isaac Jacobson, Garison Leif, Hayden Luttrell, Andrew Paschall and Robbie Yard all competed the course for the RiverHawks with competitive times, but finished outside of the Top 10 on the day.

For the women, Adrionna Taylor and Sydney Long-Miele competed the course and Head Coach Andrea Bowden finished 7th in the women's competitive race.

Coach Bowden had this to say about her team's performance, "I am extremely proud of our performances today. For our first individual race, we showed that we have a chance to be very competitive in the Obstacle Course Racing world. I am very excited about what the next couple of competitions hold for our team."

Next up for the RiverHawks is the Physical Training Championships, held on Oct. 28th, at Chemeketa Community College.
