RiverHawk Wrestling Adds Three Athletes

Head Men's Wrestling Coach Kyle Temple has announced the signing of three wrestlers to the 2018/2019 recruiting class. Wrestlers include 125 pounder Miguel Andrade of Edison High School in Stockton, CA, 141 pounder Sawyer Myres of West Albany High School in Albany, OR, and heavyweight Adam Lamb of Cottage Grove, OR

Miguel Andrade finished in 6th place for Kiona-Benton High School in Benton, WA as a sophomore before moving to Stockton, CA and wrestling for Edison High School for his senior year. Miguel currently holds a 17-5 record in the state of California. Coach Temple had the following to say about Miguel, "I am excited to have someone with Miguel's work ethic and passion for wrestling join the RiverHawks. Miguel will fill a much needed role for the RiverHawks at 125 pounds, and should make an immediate impact on our team. Miguel is a smaller 125 pound wrestler and should be able to compete at this weight class for the duration of his college career. He will be a crucial cog in the California recruiting circuit for the future of the RiverHawk program and I am excited to bring him to Roseburg to continue his athletic and academic pursuits."

Sawyer Myres placed 6th for the Bulldogs of West Albany last season at the OSAA class 6A state tournament at 138 pounds in 2017. Sawyer is currently 39-2 on the year and ranked 5th in the state at 145 pounds. Sawyer was a 2017 member of the Oregon Cultural Exchange team that travelled to Yakutsk, Russia in August along with coach Temple. Coach Temple had the following to say about Sawyer, "Sawyer has an amazing work ethic. He is a wrestling gym rat that eats, breathes, and sleeps wrestling. He will be a great compliment to our lighter weights and give us much needed depth. I am sure there will be battles between Sawyer and current 141 pounder Kobe Olson which will only help both wrestlers by pushing each other."

Adam Lamb of Cottage Grove High School will join the 2018/2019 UCC men's wrestling program as a heavyweight. Adam was formerly coached by UCC Men's Wrestling coach Kyle Temple prior to Coach Temple taking over the RiverHawk program. Lamb is currently 28-4 on the season and is the number three ranked heavyweight in the state of Oregon. Like Myres, Lamb was a member of the 2017 Oregon Cultural Exchange team that travelled to Yakutsk, Russia in August along with coach Temple. Coach Temple had the following to say about Adam lamb, "I am pleased to be reunited with Adam after a year hiatus from coaching him. As a junior Adam had an incredible start to the season. He was 21-1 with 20 falls in the first period until he suffered a season ending injury due to a broken arm. He had pinned both wrestlers that made the state finals each in less than a minute. This season he has already defeated the number 2 ranked 220 pound and the number 2 ranked heavyweight in the state as well as the number 1 and defending state champion at heavyweight. Adam will be a great addition and will challenge Dallas O'Bryan for his starting spot."
