RiverHawks Open Historic Season

The Umpqua RiverHawk Women's Wrestling program had a historic weekend, as they travelled to Aberdeen, Washington to participate in the first match in program history. The RiverHawks wrestled against Grays Harbor College and Warner Pacific University.

                On the day, the RiverHawks went 2-4 with Pamela Beans losing to Carla Sanchez of Grays Harbor 4-2 and Patricia Escobar by first round fall. Moria Sheldon also battled hard for the RiverHawks, going 0-2 with a 2nd round loss by fall to Sophie Hernandez of Grays Harbor and a 1st round loss by fall to Cassandra Parra of Grays Harbor. Saskia Vanderhoff capped off the day by getting the 1st victories in the history of UCC Women's Wrestling by defeating Cielo Villalobos from Grays Harbor, by technical fall (14-0) in the 2nd round and pinning Megan Gonzalez of Grays harbor in the first Round

                The RiverHawks will open up the home season this Saturday, as they take on Eastern Oregon University at 1:00 pm.
