The Umpqua Women's Wrestling program is excited to announce the signing of 2017 California State qualifier, Monica Chavez. Chavez is from Bakersfield, California, where she attends Golden Valley High School. Chavez was a 2^nd and 3^rd place finisher at CIF Masters in 2017 and 2018. She finished her senior campaign with a 25-7 record. Chavez joins high school teammate, Bressly Aleman in the 2018-19 RiverHawk signing class.

Head Women's Wrestling Coach Asia DeWeese had this to say about the signing of Chavez, "We are very excited to have Monica join our program. She is a fierce competitor and gives us good depth at her weight class. She is a tireless worker who will improve each season."

Chaves is the 14^th RiverHawk signee for the 2018-19 season.
