RiverHawks Add Multi-Sport Athlete

The Umpqua Community College Department of Athletics is excited to announce the signing of multi-sport athlete Laura Ekada, to participate in cross country and women's wrestling.

Ekada is an Alaskan Native from the village of Minto, where she was raised by her grandparents. She currently attends Mt. Edgecumbe High School where she has received a varsity letters in Cross Country and Women's Wrestling. She has qualified for the ASAA State Cross Country Championships four-years in a row and placed third at the ASAA State Wresting Championships two-years in a row. Laura currently has a GPA of 3.94 and is ranked 6th in her class.

Director of Athletics, Craig Jackson had this to say about the signing of Ekada, "We are excited to add her to our two programs. She is a very hard worker and strong competitor that will add depth to both of our teams."

Ekada was a high school teammate to current freshman wrestler, Pamela Beans.
