Women's Wrestling Signs Natomas High Standout

The Umpqua Community College Women's wrestling program is excited to announce the signing of Natomas High School student-athlete, Juliana Castro to wrestle for the RiverHawks. The Sacramento, California native is a two-sport athlete that participates in Jiu Jitsu, as well as wrestling.  She is a former National Jiu Jitsu champion (2015) and was 2nd in the American Cup Jiu Jitsu event in the same year. She is also a two-time Champion of the North American Grappling Association (2015 & 2016). This year, on the mat at 101 lbs., she is 28-10.

RiverHawk Women's Wrestling Coach Asia DeWeese had this to say about the signing of Castro, "Juliana is a hard worker who has the potential to get better as she moves into free-style wrestling. We are excited, as her Jiu Jitsu background should help in her transition to a new wrestling style."
