RiverHawk Men's Team Finishes 4th, Several Personal Bests Set at the John Knight Twilight

The RiverHawk Track & Field teams competed Friday night at the John Knight Twilight hosted by Western Oregon University, and the men's team secured a 4th place finish out of 17 scoring teams. Several men and women set new personal bests and season best marks as well.

The RiverHawks were led by the javelin crew, that went 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the event with Colby Neron throwing 61.20m/200'9", Ismayil Abdoulaye throwing 57.16m/187'6" (a new PR), and Isaac Heard throwing 52.04m/170'9". James Kelly had a big day as he ran the 110m hurdles and took 2nd overall with a time of 16.61 (second fastest time at UCC), he then pole vaulted 4.40m/14'5.25" and took 2nd place overall (also the second highest jump at UCC). Alex Duguid-Green signigicantly improved his hammer throw mark with  45.09m/147'11" which secured him 3rd place. Alex then threw 41.92m/137'6" in the discus, which also placed him 3rd in the event. Attreyu Pinard ran the 3k steeplechase, and while he had a rough day, he still managed to run a new personal best and secured 6th place in the event with a time of 11:03.57. Connor Deveny ran a significantly faster 5k than his previous mark, and placed 6th in the event with a time of 17:18.27.

The women's crew had several scoring placers in their respective events. Taylor Heie claimed 4th in the pole vault with a jump of 2.60m/8'6.25" while jumping on a new pole for the first time. Kylie Anderson also took 4th place in the shot put, with a throw of 11.40m/37'5. Eve Elmore had a big day, as she took 6th place ni the hammer throw with 43.57m/142'11, which was a new personal best and made her school record mark that much better. Rachel Noyce was the highest finishing junior college athlete in the high jump, as she took 6th overall with a jump of 1.61m/5'3.25" (which ties her previous best mark and her school record), then she proceeded to claim 6th in the long jump with a personal best jump of 4.61m/15'1.25". Avery Shinkle also competed in the long jump as she jumped 4.48m/14'8.5" which secured 7th place and a new season best mark. Hailey Combie threw 33.81m/109'6 in the discus throw, which placed her 7th overall. Kylie Rubrecht threw the javelin and took 8th place overall with a throw of 33.00m/108'3". Other notable marks by the RiverHawk women's crew was Mariah Summers in the 5k, as she ran 32 seocnds faster than her previous best, with a time of 21:56.68, then Emma-Kate Crouse ran a new personal best of 2:46.49 in the 800m. Also in the 800m was Kristen Thomas, who was less than 1 second away from her collegiate best with a time of 2:33.71 and was the highest placing RiverHawk in the event.

Later in the week, Eve Elmore was awarded NWAC Women's Field Athlete fo the Week for her performance in the hammer throw!
