RiverHawk Track & Field Goes Head To Head With SWOCC at Prefontaine Masters Classic

The RiverHawk Track & field teams competed in the yearly dual meet against SWOCC in Coos Bay on Saturday, April 15th. Several Hawks found success by coming out on top in their respective events and establishing new personal bests.

On the women's side, there were a few first place finishes and several personal bests. Rachel Noyce secured 1st place in the high jump with a jump of 1.56m/5-1.25ft and 2nd in the 200m with a personal best time of 27.86. Kristen Thomas ran the 800m in a time of 2:38.49 for 1st, followed by teammates Emma-Kate Crouse in 2:44.85 for 2nd and a personal best and Mariah Summers in 2:49.15 for 4th. Bailey Wallack ran the 400m in a time of 1:04.24 for 1st. In the 100m hurdles, Gabrielle Hrdlicka ran 17.11 to take 3rd. The 4x100m relay team ran the second fastest time in school history with a time of 53.33 with a team consisting of Taylor Heie, Gabrielle Hrdlicka, Avery Shinkle, and Rachel Noyce. The 4x400m relay team also ran the second fastest time in school history with a time of 4:31.33 with a team consisting of Gabrielle Hrdlicka, Emma-Kate Crouse, Kristen Thomas, and Bailey Wallack. Taylor Heie cleared 2.70m/8-10.25ft and took 1st in pole vault. Kylie Anderson had an incredible showing as she threw personal bests in all three throwing events, took 1st in hammer with a throw of 40.33m/132-4ft, 2nd in shot put with a throw of 11.72m/38-5.5ft, and 3rd in discus with a throw of 32.08m/105-3ft. Brook Stookey took 2nd in discus with a throw of 36.60m/120-1ft (just short of her personal best), 3rd in shot put with a personal best of 10.52m/34-6.25ft, and 3rd in hammer with a personal best of 37.56m/123-3ft. Hailey Combie took 4th in both shot put (9.76m/32-0.25ft) and discus (30.73m/100-10ft), then took 6th in hammer with a throw of 27.97m/91-9ft. Aubry Brownson took 5th in both shot put (9.60m/31-6ft) and hammer (29.83m/97-10ft), and 7th in discus with a throw of 27.78m/91-2ft. Kylie Rubrecht and Madelyn Sharp took 2nd and 3rd in javelin with throws of 32.19m/105-7ft and 31.82m/104-5ft, respectively.

On the men's side, one school record was broken, there were three wins, and a couple personal bests. James Kelly won pole vault with a new best and school record of 4.52m/14-10ft and a win in the 110m hurdles in a time of 16.14, which was also a personal best. Daniel Gee took 2nd in pole vault with a jump of 3.96m/12-11.75ft. The Hawks went 1-2-3 in javelin as Colby Neron took 1st (57.78m/189-7ft), Isaac Heard took 2nd (55.13m/180-10ft), and Ismayil Abdoulaye took 3rd (54.37m/178-4). Isaac Heard also took 3rd in discus with athrow of 36.05m/118-3ft. Ismayil Abdoulaye took on high jump for the first time with a clearance of 1.66m/5-5.25ft for 4th. Connor Deveny took 2nd in the 1500m, establishing his first time in the event with 4:43.89. Paul Cervantes took 2nd in the 800m with a time of 2:24.50 and 3rd in the 1500m with a time of 4:52.07. The 4x400m relay team ran the 5th fastest time in school history with a time of 3:39.44 with a team consisting of Daniel Gee, Attreyu Pinard, Ethan Pariani, and James Kelly.

The RiverHawks will compete again on Friday and Saturday, April 21st and 22nd, at the Raider Invitational hosted by Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR.
