Danhoff Helps RiverHawks to Win Over Lakers

The Umpqua RiverHawks used stifling defense to go on the road and avenge their lone Southern Region defeat by beating the Lakers of Southwestern Oregon Community College by a score of 70-55. The RiverHawks came out a bit slowly by only shooting 32.4% in the first half and trailed 27-25 going into the locker room.

The second half was a completely different story as the Hawks shot 62% from the floor, while holding the Lakers to 24% shooting. This disparity resulted in the RiverHawks outscoring the Lakers by a 45-28 margin, to settle into the final score.

Umpqua was led by sophomore Jacob Danhoff (Manteca HS) with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Ethan Betts followed with 16 points and he was joined in double figures by Timmy Thompson with 13 points and Jouvon Edison with 10.

With the win the RiverHawks move to 14-4 on the season and 6-1 in Southern Region play. The win puts them in sole possession of first place in the Southern Region.
