Umpqua Men Hold off Mt. Hood

The men of Umpqua Community College used a big night from sophomore Jouvon Edison to hold off the Saints of Mt. Hood Community College and send them home with a loss, by the score of 82-71. Edison went 8-12 from the floor and 4-4 from the free throw line to lead the RiverHawks with 20 points. He was also the leading rebounder with 9 boards. Darrin Gethers chipped in 18 points, followed by Timmy Thompson with 17 and Jacob Danhoff with 15 points.

The game was tightly contested for most of the 40 minutes with the RiverHawks leading by just four points at the half, 38-34. Danhoff collected his fifth foul with close to 11:00 left in the game, but Umpqua was able to stretch the lead in the waning minutes.

With the win, the RiverHawks remain in first place in the Southern Region with an 8-3 record. They are 16-6 on the season.
