Men’s Basketball Signs Reno Guard

Umpqua Community College Men’s Basketball  would like to announce the signing of Nyaabila Apambire, a 6’4” guard from Damonte Ranch High School in Reno, Nevada. Apambire was named to the Sierra League 4A Honorable Mention All-Conference team, in a year that saw him average 15 points and 8 rebounds per game.

RiverHawk Men’s Basketball Coach Daniel Leeworthy has this to say about the signing of Apambire, “Nyaabila is extremely athletic, explosive, and can be a great jump shooter but what I like most about him is that he is a high character guy who loves the classroom.”

The RiverHawks are coming off a Southern Region Championship and a trip to the NWAC Final 4. They finished the season with a 20-10 record.

Umpqua’s Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including three men's teams (basketball, cross country, and wrestling), and four women's teams (basketball, cross country, and volleyball). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men’s and women’s wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men’s wrestling they belong to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women’s wrestling, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association.
