RiverHawk Men’s Basketball Signs Connor Shaw

The NWAC Southern Region Champion Umpqua RiverHawk Men's Basketball program has announced the signing of Connor Shaw, a 6'0"point guard, from North Ogden, Utah. The senior point guard played his high school basketball at Weber, High School in Pleasant View, Utah, with current RiverHawk Grant Ellison.

While at Weber High School, Shaw was twice named 1st Team All-Region 1, as well as being named to the All-Area Team and to the 2017 5A All-State Second Team. He averaged 17.6 points per game to go along with 5.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds. He shot 37% from the 3-pt line, while connecting on 40 3-pt shots and shot 91% from the free throw line.

Head Men's Basketball Coach Daniel Leeworthy had this to say about the signing of Shaw," Connor is an All-State player who always puts his team first.  He is a leader on and off the court and is a winner.  He has tremendous court vision and IQ.  He will make an immediate impact with his scoring, passing, and leadership."

Umpqua's Department of Athletics is composed of nine varsity sports teams including four men's teams (basketball, cross country, wrestling and obstacle course racing), and five women's teams (basketball, cross country, volleyball, wrestling and obstacle course racing). Umpqua is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference in all sports except men's and women's wrestling and obstacle course racing. For men's wrestling UCC belongs to the National Junior College Athletic Association and for women's wrestling, the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association.
