Chase Powell from South Medford High School in Oregon has signed to RiverHawk Track and Field to join the pole vault squad. 

While volunteering at a local high school meet, a couple of UCC vaulters met with Chase and gave him pointers during competition. After a few discussions with the athletes and Coach King it was clear that Chase would be a great fit in our program. His current personal best is 11'6ft and he has plenty of room for improvement as he can focus on pole vault year-round with the Hawks. He finished 7th at the 6A-7 Southwest Conference Championships this year, an improvement from his 10th place finish at the meet his junior year. Chase has made progressions in the event each year as he went 8ft in 9th grade, 9'9ft in 10th, 11ft in 11th, and 11'6ft in 12th. Our pole vault crew has been growing in numbers and talent over the last few years, and Chase will make a great addition to that development.
