Congratulations to Tommie Olubisi! He has officially committed to Portland State University to continue his academic and athletic careers!
Tommie was a skilled water polo and basketball player back home in the UK, then he came to the US to pursue his basketball career. Once he got to UCC it was clear to us that Tommie needed to hit the track! In his first year he was a qualifier at NWAC Championships, and after an incredible bout of hard work and dedication, he had dominate performances in year two. At the NWAC Championships he was the lead leg for the winning 4x100m relay team and finished 3rd in the 200m to earn All-American honors. He also finished 4th in both the 400m and 4x400m relay to earn All-Conference honors. At the NWAC South Region Championships he helped lead the 4x400m relay team to victory for All-South Region honors. Tommie also helped his RiverHawk crew break the school records in both relays this season.
This year he was the most improved athlete on the men's team and there's no doubt about it. He's leaving UCC with times of 11.09 100m, 22.37 200m, and 49.54 400m. With a lot more still to give to the sport, we are excited to see Tommie continue his career, and follow his academic passions. Lucky for us he'll be competing just up the road at PSU!
Once a RiverHawk, Always a RiverHawk!
